We do not have to look too far to see that the MORAL FABRIC upon which our society was constructed by our founding fathers is on a downward spiral to destruction. The DIRE NEED for Religion to guide how we should conduct our daily lives seems to be a thing of the past. In developed countries it seems that the reason why there is little or no urgency for a closer walk with Jehovah God, the Creator of this world, is perhaps because of the fact that we live quite comfortably and do not have to struggle to fulfill our basic needs like persons in developing (THIRD WORD) countries.  As the old adage goes "PEOPLE NEED GOD MORE WHEN THEY ARE IN NEED).

I am blessed to be the first online blog to BREAK THE NEWS TO YOU THAT there are still few persons in our world who are willing to fight to keep those TENETS  & VALUES alive through ESTABLISHING OF A NEW CHRISTIAN HIGH SCHOOL called PRE-U CHRISTIAN ACADEMY. This school seeks to adopt the holistic approach to education. They will cater to the SPIRITUAL, PSYCHO-SOCIAL, ACADEMIC, AND PHYSICAL (through concentrating on AMERICAN FOOTBALL). The school is slated to open its doors to the Montreal public in September, 2016.

OPEN HOUSE will take place on Saturday May 14, 2016 at the LEONARDO DA VINCI CENTRE located at 8885 BOULEVARD LACORDAIRE H1R 3Y6, SAINT LEONARD, MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA. All Pre U christian Academy students will use Notebooks or Labtops. As the digital age is upon us, Pre U Christian Academy desires to be ahead of this digital revolution as we help reshape schooling. Given a Pre U Christian education, students will learn to think critically and to express themselves clearly in written and oral form in English and French.

Athletics is an extension of our school mission which is "to equip students for a life-long journey as disciple of Christ, and to provide students with an academically rigorous program as preparation for post-secondary education, with an emphasis on  competitive athletics."  We firmly believe that we must develop the whole person.  At Pre U Christian Academy, our goal first and foremost, is to develop strong Christian Men and along the way win championships.  As an athletic department our duty is not to just teach the fundamental skills required to achieve on the the athletic field or court, we also have the task to teach and reinforce the life skills that a society void of responsibility and social concern for his/her fellow man has seemed to forgotten. Grade 7 and Middle School: Bridging the Gap High school is a significant  time in a student's life.  Choosing the school that  best suits the child is  essential to a happy and  successful experience. At Pre U Christian  Academy, we  understand that children in grades  7 and 8 are living through a unique period  in their lives: a time of great physical,  emotional and intellectual change.  They are no longer in the  small and personal atmosphere of elementary  school, nor are they quite ready for the  independence and complexity of senior high  school. The Pre U Christian Academy  Middle School program is designed especially  to bridge the gap between these two worlds-to  our young men 12- 14 years old an environment  that strikes a balance between a warm support  and the need for self-reliance and mature  organizational habits. We combine academic  and co-curricular pursuits with a House Advisory  program designed to ensure that each student's  growth and development is monitored every  step of the way, making Middle School an  immensely challenging and rewarding time  of expanding boundaries and a growing  sense of responsibility.

I love the idea and concept of this school. With this school having CHRISTIAN VALUES AND PRINCIPLES as its foundation it cannot go wrong. When we put JEHOVAH GOD 1ST in everything the results are tremendous. A product of CHRISTIAN EDUCATION I have first hand experience of this type of approach to education as I attended a PRIVATE (mixed boy & girls) girl back in my Caribbean island of SAINT VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES. J.F. KENNEDY HIGH SCHOOL WON CFEE & BANK OF MONTREAL 'TALK WITH OUR KIDS ABOUT MONEY (MONEY FAIR) COMPETITION.

The "buy, buy, debt, debt culture" seems to be the new order of the day. Access to money is made easier by the second, the minute, the hour, the days, the weeks, months, and years. As technology advances more options for financing increases. It seems that anything can be had with a swipe of a credit, debit card, a credit line at the bank, loans, etc. Gone are the days when persons lined up at the bank for hours to withdraw money from their account to purchase what they want. They can get anything online with the instant click of their computer mouse or their mobile phone. One wonders whether or not careful thought is given to the economic implications of every dollar that is spent on a daily basis. It seems that the CANADIAN FOUNDATION FOR ECONOMIC EDUCATION has gotten this memo when they've decided to partner with THE BANK OF MONTREAL to launch their TALK WITH OUR KIDS ABOUT MONEY DAY. This programme targets students from both the elementary and high school levels within the Canadian education system.

 

Launched in 2013, a pilot run was carried out in Montreal and Toronto which involved executives from CFEE making visits to several schools to speak with students about money geared toward cultivating FINANCIAL LITERACY. In a NEWS FEATURE on CTV Montreal with MUTSUMI TAKAHASHI, VICE PRESIDENT of CFEE Mr. BRIAN SMITH said, "as Canadians here in Quebec there is a taboo around talking money and finances, we don't want to talk about it because it is not part of our culture. So the goal is to bring this to the forefront and help persons to make EDUCATED DECISION about money."

The foundation is hoping to start it as early as Grade 5. One of the lifelong LESSONS that this programme teaches children is that MONEY CANNOT BUY HAPPINESS. It makes them happy for a couple of days then on to something else. Concepts such as WHAT MONEY IS USED FOR, WHERE DOES IT COME FROM, AND WAYS OF GENERATING it are just a few of the plethora teaching of topics students and parents can expect to become familiar with.

As the old adage goes "when it is nice you do it twice" holds true for Mr. Smith and his CFEE team as the success from the pilot informed their decision to extend the olive branch to other Canadian Provinces and make the TALK WITH OUR KIDS ABOUT MONEY CANADA WIDE in 2016. April 20 has earned its spot on CFEE'S calendar  as "TALK WITH OUR KIDS ABOUT MONEY DAY."

Since this initiative revolves around money having financial institutions such as the bank/s was a brilliant idea. THE BANK OF MONTREAL has partnered with CFEE as a stakeholder/sponsor to make this a reality. This is why it was only fitting to celebrate this special day in MONTREAL, QUEBEC at the BMO HEAD OFFICE. On April 20, 2016 Executives from both CFEE and Bank OF MONTREAL organized a MONEY FAIR COMPETITION which drew participants from high schools from across Quebec. A total of FIVE (5) schools took up the invitation to CHOSE AN AREA OF BUSINESS AND SHOWCASE IT AT THIS EVENT. A total of SEVEN (7) projects were presented. Two (2) of these were submitted by the LOVOIR HIGH SCHOOL one (1) of which placed 2nd (the girls team). Students were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in the competition. A blue acrylic plaque was awarded to the winner.

This "TALK WITH OUT KIDS ABOUT MONEY DAY" in my opinion was a SUCCESS! CONGRATULATIONS to CFEE and BRIAN SMITH, BMO, participants, winners, parents, and well wishers. Keep up the excellent job that you are foing in cultivating FINANCIAL LITERACY into the minds of our CANADIAN children. I must say whe I look back at some of the footage  that I have covered at this historic event on behalf of my blog I feel a great sense of satisfaction just to be there to witness the talent which our youths possess. This was easy for me to cover since I'd taught BUSINESS at the high school level to Grade 10 and 11 students for FOUR YEARS here in Montreal, Quebec. So DEJA VU I would call this event. The students reminded me very much of the students I have taught ACCOUNT, ECONOMICS, COMMERCIAL ACTIVITIES, AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP to at GAA. I've seen them exhibit numerous skills such as INNOVATION, CREATIVITY, SELF-CONFIDENCE, ELOQUENCE, and the awareness of FINANCIAL LITERACY. The PASSION AND CONFIDENCE EXUDED was a breath of fresh air in that hall. This presentation has inspired me to return to the schools to share my ENTREPRENEURIAL JOURNEY with students as my way of GIVING BACK TO A CANADIAN SOCIETY THAT HAS BLESSED ME WITH SO MUCH AS A DOCUMENTED IMMIGRANT FROM THE CARIBBEAN ISLAND OF SAINT VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES! I WAS PLEASED TO BE A PART OF THIS INITIATIVE NOT IN THE CAPACITY OF A BUSINESS TEACHER but has a VERIFIED/CERTIFIED GOOGLE BLOGGER taking education to a whole new level to the realms to JOURNALISTIC EDUCATIONAL AWARENESS. I owe lots of HEARTFELT GRATITUDE TO BRIAN SMITH (VICE PRESIDENT OF CANADIAN FOUNDATION FOR ECONOMIC EDUCATION CFEE) for having formally invited me to participate in this GRAND EXPERIENCE. BURNT VICTIM RECEIVED HELP FROM A KIND VINCENTIAN!

OUT OF EVIL COMES GOOD! THERE ARE GOOD PEOPLE IN THE WORLD!
Last week I ran a story about a young man whom a well known PASTOR & TEACHER along with his WIFE & DAUGHTER burnt with hot water. Since that article was published reports reaching CUHCREATIONS.BLOGSPOT.CA is that the perpetrators were taken up by the POLICE and investigation seems to be in progress. I had the opportunity of listening to an INTERVIEW by EXTREME RADIO in which the VICTIM Mr. Victory explained how difficult it is for him to work given his temporary disability and it moved me to tears when he said HE CANNOT AFFORD TO PURCHASE SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR HIS CHILDREN. Well GOD HEARD HIS CRIES and sent a GOOD SAMARITAN ROLAND VERON PETERS of Coulls Hill, a village located on the LEEWARD side of the Caribbean Island of SAINT VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES, to assist with school supplies for his daughter who is currently in elementary school. I APPLAUD Mr. Peters for this great initiative in helping to advance the cause of humanity! This is act is very CHRISTLIKE.

ABOUT  ROLAND PETERS SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION
FOUNDER ROLAND PETERS

As it relates to Cuthbert Mafia Victory who was severely burnt by the pastor, he openly said in several interviews that as a result of his injuries he had no idea how he will support his seven year old daughter. Noting his distress we carried out an urgent need assessment to see how he can be assisted. Based on his inability to work due to his injuries and the result of the need assessment, his seven year old daughter was awarded financial aid by the Roland Peters Scholarship Foundation for the balance of this school term.

The Roland Peters Scholarship Foundation was started three years ago by Roland Veron Peters of Coulls's Hill. The focus of the foundation is on empowering the youth with a goal of increasing their chances to become successful. This is done largely by supporting their educational journey through different programs. Although the foundation offer support in terms of offering advice and counseling, a great percentage of the support that is given to students is in the form of financial and material aid as it pertain to education. The foundation do not have any donors or sponsor.

Needs assessment on the ground is done by Mr Jimmy Allen of Coull's Hill and communicated to MR Peters. Finance for the foundation is generated by Mr Peters donating a percentage of his salary each month to fund various projects and programs. Projects and programs that the foundation have carried out and continue to carry out throughout the years include but not limited to providing bus passes, lunch vouchers, school books, school uniforms and other school materials. Additional the foundation provide eye care and glasses to students with impaired vision and in some cases full scholarships to students depending on the result of need assessments. 

MY ENCOURAGEMENT IS FOR OTHERS TO JOIN THE AND SUPPORT THIS FOUNDATION BY DONATING TO THIS WORTHY CAUSE. OUR CHILDREN ARE OUR FUTURE. As the late USA President J.F. Kennedy said, "ASK NOT WHAT YOUR COUNTRY CAN DO FOR YOU BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR COUNTRY." The government alone cannot develop SAINT VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES we as a people must pool our resources together and formulate creative ways to nation building. Let us all borrow a leaf from the book that Mr. Peters is now writing with his fingers of kindness and love for his fellow human beings!
